Description

The Scars are back. "Tyrant" is the second book in the 'Scars of the Wraith' series from the New York Times Best Selling Author Nashoda Rose.

“I don’t do nice. Period.” -Kilter (nickname: Off-Kilter)

Kilter is an a*****e. He's rude and crass with little hope of finding salvation after being betrayed and tortured by his brother more than a hundred years ago. Reckless and stubborn he has alienated everyone—just the way he likes it. Until the day he meets Rayne and emotions he buried long ago reawaken.

“I was nothing but a science experiment.” -Rayne Thurston

Rayne has been locked away and used for research ever since she was a child. The abuse caused her to withdraw into a tomb of numbness where she’s found a safe place to hide. But her safe place isn’t safe at all, it’s slowly killing her.
When Kilter rescues her and she is unexpectedly drawn to his raw honesty, Rayne must decide whether to trust him and fight for what she can’t see or drown into the depths of darkness.

For some Scars, it’s the story of healing and redemption, for others it’s the beginning of a tortured existence.
Which will it be for Kilter and Rayne?

A band of fierce warriors walk in the shadows of the human world with capabilities derived from the senses: Trackers, Sounders, Healers, Tasters, Visionaries and the rare Reflectors. They are known as the ‘Scars.

I fell in love with Rayne Kilter. I did really like him too much in the standalone, nor in the previous book. This time I loved him!! Loved that we get to follow up on the other characters and I've began to fall in love with other couples like Damian and Abby and Walearon (sp) and his ex. Love love love the series and I'm definitely now a solid fan of PNR books. Please and hurry with the next book. Can't wait for Delarea and Walerean (sp). This book, well the three out now, are a definite read. I stayed up all night to finish, knowing I'd pay for it the next day. So worth it. Now I miss it.

Absolutely LOVED Kilter's story. Although this is the second time I've read it. (Please note that this story has been published before, as Step (Senses Series), but it has been rewritten and is even better this time around. And please, you must read Stygian before reading Tyrant or you will be lost!!! Kilter!!! What can I say except that there is just so much there!!! He's growly and closed-off, says what he means and means what he says, and he could care less what anyone thinks about that until Rayne. He has been through so much in the many years he's been alive, thinking his clan had broken his trust. But when he rescues Rayne he knows he needs help, without it she may die. Rayne. Wow, there are so many things about her that will shock the reader. Although in the beginning her character may seem weak and broken we soon see that there is a core strength about her that should have been completely broken. I absolutely loved watching her come back. One of the best things about this series is that, while each book focuses on specific couples, we get to meet so many diverse characters. Can't wait until the next book!!!! This will be Belara and Waleron's story. SO MUCH story there!!!!

I've waited for this book & I'm sad to say I'm disappointed. 😕 There were so many POV changes & snippets of other crap going on that Kilter & Rayne's story plays second fiddle. It isn't until more than halfway through the book that things focus more on them & it gets really good. I wanted the book to be more focused on Kilter & Rayne..... I skipped through Damien's pov, I didn't sign up to read about him & the other POV's, other than Delara's & Waleron. It needed to be more focused on the main couple, I loved them together & wanted to see more from them.
